The message of the Redeemer to the ancient Saints as recorded in these chapters contains universal applications: the divinely decreed process of establishing Zion in the latter days, the importance of searching the words of Isaiah and all of the Lord’s prophets, the indispensable duty to keep vital records of truth and inspiration, and the ongoing quest to understand all things from the beginning to the end.
We are told that we must live by every word that proceeds forth from the mouth of God (see Matthew 4:4; D&C 84:44–45). The prophets speak His words (see D&C 21:4–6; D&C 68:3–7). The Lord will give His servants utterance by the power of the Holy Ghost. It behooves us to follow the prophets and their counsel. Otherwise we put ourselves against God (see 3 Nephi 28:34–35). Let us therefore allow these marvelous sayings of Jesus from the book of 3 Nephi to lift us up, give us hope, and inspire us to live more Christlike lives.
