“Jesus Had Expounded All the Scriptures in One”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Jesus “expounded all the scriptures in one,” just as he did immediately after his resurrection in Jerusalem. To the two disciples walking the road to Emmaus, “beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself… . All things [that] must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me” (Luke 24:27, 44). In other words, the Master brought together all the age-old messianic prophecies and showed how all things were now fulfilled concerning his mission in mortality. All scripture comes from a common source and centers on a common theme: Jesus Christ is the great Jehovah, the earthly Messiah, the literal Son of God in the flesh, the king of Israel, the Lord of heaven and earth, the Redeemer of all creation.
