Jesus edited the Nephite records and chastised his disciples for omitting essentials in prophetic writings. Imagine the Savior himself was the editor of records we are now reading. For example, he pointed out that Samuel the Lamanite had prophesied that upon Jesus’ resurrection, many of the Saints of past ages would rise from the dead and appear and minister unto many people. The record keepers had failed to include that important prophecy in their religious history, and Jesus wanted the fact preserved that there were numerous eyewitnesses of the Resurrection—indisputable evidence that he, the Savior, was now immortal, and that many others of his faithful followers over thousands of years were also, for the first time in history, in a glorified, immortal, resurrected state. His apostle Matthew had recorded that sublime truth in the Old World’s testament (Matthew 27:52–53), and now with the same testimony engraved in the New World’s testament, there would be multiple witnesses of this transcendent verity that many people, in the last days, would question and doubt.
