The summary of the rest of King Mosiah’s epistle to his people undoubtedly contained many more principles and admonitions, but in Mormon’s abridgment there is one principle of great importance. The burden of government should come upon all the people, and every man should bear his part (v. 34). It was to be of the people, by the people, and for the people. Again we are reminded of the Constitution of the United States. The description of the other things written by Mosiah, but not included by Mormon imply they were an extension of what had already been said (vv. 33, 35–36).
